  • Feeding, napping, and diapering are an all day occurrence according to each child’s routine. An Infant schedule posted in the classroom is provided more to outline what we do over the course of most days. We are an extension of what you do at home. As part of the daily schedule we help babies develop the skills of their age group, listen and dance to music, read books, sing songs, and do finger plays with the children. Each week the children will have the opportunity to participate in a music program provided by TNG.

We use Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddler’s, and Two’s here at TNG. It includes goals and objectives for children’s learning in all areas of development. Goals and objectives show you where you want to get to, curriculum tells you how to get there. The curriculum involves everything that happens throughout the day. Everything that a child experiences during the day is a learning opportunity. Along with the individual care giving moments, teachers will also plan and organize their environments to provide experiences which enhance motor development, cognitive development, language development, and problem solving. In addition we incorporate sign language.

With Infants commonly on the floor, we want to provide a clean safe environment in the Infant room. We practice a “shoe free” policy in this room. We ask that all adults entering the room please remove shoes. We take this action to prevent outside debris from being brought into the room and spread onto the carpet, especially during the winter months with the salt and snow.

Infants nap according to their own schedules. If an Infant should fall asleep while being rocked, swinging or when out for a walk, they will be put in their cribs to continue sleeping. Crib sheets are provided by TNG and are washed weekly.
Infants will be placed on their backs to sleep. The Infants at TNG are provided with a firm, tight fitting mattress that meets the currently safety standards. There will be no pillows, quilts, bumpers, comforters or stuffed toys in the crib. Two children will NEVER share the same crib.
We understand that practices may be different at home and that some children have unique situations. However, we must follow licensing guidelines and adhere to the stated policies.

Infants are fed according to their own schedules. We will not accept open jar food from home. Food will be stored based on the manufactures guidelines. As they grow and start eating solid, their eating need will change and the eating times will be adjusted toward the group schedule. Items from the TNG menu can be served as specified by you, a menu will be kept on file for your child, signed by you with the approved menu items.

Parents of bottle fed babies will need to provide pre-made LABELED bottles. Bottles will be stored on a labeled shelf in the refrigerator. All bottles are dated upon arrival each day and must go home each night.

Outside time is weather permitting. We take the infants on walks around the landings and look and talk about what we see. Our goal is to ensure children are outside at least once a day.

Each child has a cubby, for baby food and extra supplies. Upon arrival, please fill out your child’s daily sheet. The teachers will fill out the remainder of the form, including what your child ate and when naps were taken along with diaper changes throughout the day. Parents are welcome to visit their child at anytime.
